Apartments at David Wilson Homes’ Canalside @ Wichelstowe development have been shortlisted in the ‘Best First Time Buyer Apartment’ category in First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards 2022.
One of the largest local authority joint venture agreements in the country, the Wichelstowe development is being built by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes in partnership with Swindon Borough Council which will deliver 3,000 new homes over the next 20 years, along with new schools and community facilities. The 250-hectare site on the southern edge of Swindon will include extensive open spaces, nature conservation areas, playing pitches and allotments.
59 per cent of apartments at the site were purchased by first time buyers.

The ‘Best First Time Buyer Apartment’ award is for an apartment suitable for a first time buyer, which is affordable and also offers excellent design flair, both inside and out.
Voting closes at on Friday 5th August 2022 and winners will be announced on 2 September.
In addition to 208 new homes already delivered at Canalside @ Wichelstowe, the development includes Waitrose, Hall & Woodhouse bar and restaurant and community facilities. Once complete, there will be 200 acres of open space, 12km of new footways and cycleways, 1.5 acres of allotments and 20 acres of play areas and sports pitches. Work is now underway on the 182 new Barratt homes at Wichel Fields @ Wichelstowe.
