A green-fingered house hunter who took part in a tree planting event within the acres of open space surrounding Wichelstowe has put down roots at the development.
Phoebe Page, a philosophy lecturer from the University of West of England, volunteered her time to plant trees on the development and was so impressed, that she wasted no time in reserving a two bedroom Radford house as soon as it was released for sale.
Phoebe, who was the first person to reserve a plot at Wichel Fields @ Wichelstowe, is due to move to the development from her current rental home in Bristol later this year, said: “Wichel Fields @ Wichelstowe instantly impressed me. The canal area, ponds, nature walks and wildlife make it such a truly unique, relaxing place to live, however there’s a host of community facilities on the doorstep which are really handy.
“I’m constantly hearing about the great things Wichelstowe has to offer from schools to shops, to community competitions and group activities. Having lived on a canal boat previously, I’m looking forwarding to escaping back to the country and reconnecting with nature.”
Construction of the 182 new timber framed properties at Wichel Fields @Wichelstowe is building momentum – earlier this month, Barratt Homes’ successfully launched their new timber framed and energy efficient show homes.

The new community at Wichelstowe covers 600 acres on the southern edge of Swindon. In addition to 208 new homes already delivered at Canalside @ Wichelstowe, the 250-acre site also includes Waitrose, Hall & Woodhouse bar and restaurant and community facilities. Once complete, there will be 200 acres of open space, 12km of new footways and cycleways, 1.5 acres of allotments and 20 acres of play areas and sports pitches.
