David Wilson Homes’ Orchards Rise development at The Orchards, Wichelstowe, has seen strong sales demand with ten reservations over the last month.
More than 60 per cent of these recent sales were to first time buyers while three properties have been bought by purchasers from Surrey and Reading in line with reports that suggest working from home has driven up house sales in parts of the West Country. Sources state buyers are moving out of major cities to get better value for money with places like Swindon proving popular [1] with 30% of all searches outside London searching for Swindon [2].

Three bedroom homes at Orchards Rise are currently priced from £345,000, below the average price of a property coming to market in Britain which, according to Rightmove, was £366,000 in March. Four bedroom homes are currently priced from £410,000.
The Key Worker incentive is currently available at Orchards Rise where buyers are entitled to a deposit contribution of £1,000 for every £20,000 they spend. Flooring is also included on selected plots. Key Workers from the NHS, teachers, police and fire services, the MOD, prison and probation services, plus Local Authority employees and Highways England are eligible for help.
The Wichelstowe development is being built by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes in partnership with Swindon Borough Council which will deliver 3,000 new homes over the next 20 years, along with new schools and community facilities. The 250-hectare site on the southern edge of Swindon will include extensive open spaces, nature conservation areas, playing pitches and allotments.
