Maternity staff at Great Western Hospital have received a special delivery that will treat new mums and their babies on the ward this Christmas.
Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, currently building a range of family properties at the nearby Wichelstowe development, has donated hampers with clothes, toiletries and toys for families who will be in hospital over the festive period.
Jane Leighton, major gifts manager at Brighter Futures, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Charity, said: “We are so grateful to Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes for their generous donation of wonderful gifts for parents and their new babies that will help during those precious early days and weeks. I’m sure it will bring lots of festive joy to those in our care over Christmas.”
Louise Ware, sales director at Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, said: “It was a pleasure to make this donation to the new mums who won’t be able to spend Christmas at home this year.”
Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Homes Bristol, added: “We hope our donation will help make their stay as comfortable and special as possible over the festive period.”
The Wichelstowe development is being built by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes in partnership with Swindon Borough Council which will deliver 3,000 new homes over the next 20 years, along with new schools and community facilities. The 250-hectare site on the southern edge of Swindon will include extensive open spaces, nature conservation areas, playing pitches and allotments.
As part of this new neighbourhood, residents can enjoy 12km of new nature trails, play areas and 200 acres of open space and walks along the Wilts and Berks canal. Homes are within a 15-minute walk of M&S and Waitrose, PureGym and The Hall and Woodhouse restaurant. There’s also a range of schools for children of all ages within easy reach. Junction 16 of the M4 and Swindon train station are both within a ten-minute drive, providing easy access to Bristol and London.
Key workers in Swindon can now receive a deposit contribution of up to £25,000 towards a new home at Wichelstowe as part of Barratt David Wilson Homes’ latest scheme. The housebuilder has introduced the Key Worker Deposit Contribution scheme at Orchards Rise and Wichel Fields at Wichelstowe which includes those working in the NHS.
Under the scheme, which has been introduced to thank key workers for their contribution to the country, buyers can receive a deposit contribution of £1,000 for every £25,000 the spend, up to the value of £25,000. For example, on a £300,000 home, Barratt David Wilson Homes will contribute £12,000 and include flooring throughout the new property.
