Swindonian’s to escape rising rents with new apartments in Wichelstowe

Apartments to help people get onto the property ladder have been released for sale in Swindon.

The launch of the starter homes at David Wilson Homes’ Orchards Rise development at Wichelstowe comes on the back of data that reveals that 27% of new buyers have been looking for apartments, up five per cent on last year.

Louise Ware, sales director at Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, said: “There’s been a huge amount of interest in these starter homes from people looking to escape rent rises. Priced from £225,000, these spacious, energy efficient properties in a fantastic new location with access to a range of amenities on the doorstep, will help people take their first step on the property ladder.

“Potential buyers are invited to drop into the marketing suite to speak to our sales advisers, Tom and Julianna, to find out more about the newly released apartments where they can also receive free financial advice.”

The four-storey red brick apartment building with contemporary metal detailing forms a landmark on the development welcoming residents to ‘The Orchards’ area of Wichelstowe. The distinct, modern apartments include large windows which provide views of green space to the east, with its feature Birds in Flight sculpture, and across the open space and an attenuation pond to the north.  All upper floor apartments include east or south facing balconies.

The construction of these new homes is being overseen by Clyde Cocking, a recent National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Award winner which marks him out as one of the best site managers in the country.

As well as apartments, Orchards Rise also offers two, three, four and five bedroom homes. As part of this neighbourhood residents can enjoy 12km of new nature trails, play areas, 200 acres of open space and walks along the Wilts and Berks canal. Homes are within a 15-minute walk of M&S and Waitrose, PureGym and The Hall and Woodhouse restaurant. There’s also a range of schools for children of all ages within easy reach.

Junction 16 of the M4 and Swindon train station are both within a ten-minute drive, providing easy access to Bristol and London. Show homes at Orchards Rise are expected to launch next month.
