Following the canal works completed in 2022, further monitoring and leak detection has been undertaken over the winter in order to inform the plan for further works this Spring. The note below describes the works to be undertaken over the next 3 months.

The contractors working on the East Wichel canal will return during the week commencing 4th July. The works will include further canal lining and investigation with a fuller update provided at the link below.

Spring 2022
Following the completion of the first package of repair works in late 2021 the canal in East Wichel has been monitored over the winter. The findings have now been assessed and the next stage of investigation works is due to commence on Monday 9th May.
These works will include further trenches and monitoring in the area where a leak has previously been identified as well as some additional bunds in the western section of canal closer to the lock. Further details of the monitoring and next steps can be found in the update report below..
